Tooth in advertising

Is the daily tedious upkeep of your oral hygiene becoming a bore? Fret not, morning warriors of the dreaded gum disease gingivitis! The Black Eyed Peas and Kelly Clarkson are here to aid you in your quest. It's music in your mouth.

Tooth Tunes

Awesome

Handsome Boy Modeling School- Every song is different but its hip hop for the most part. For Aaron I suggest Rock And Roll (could never hip hop like this) and for Cyrus I suggest Breakdown. Truth is good too. But all of their songs are good. Give it a go.

The Exploding Hearts- sounds like... rock n roll pop-y. maybe the clash? I cant do the comparisons. I love it. Suggestion: Rumours in Town.

Adam Green- Goofy and occasionally offensive. Suggestion: Jessica about jessica simpson. This song gets suck in my head. or Bluebirds. if you download one- you get it the idea of what you are getting into. I think it might move Dustin. Alot.

also- maybe these bands are all already famous. i never know about those sorts of things. if so, forgive me.

Some videos I saw this morning on MTV (they were playing videos cause it was 8 am)

Lady Soverign - "Love Me or Hate Me" - british female rapper.......i usually don't like british rappers or female rappers......but i like this song......and the video is pretty sweet too......"i'm english, try and deport me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bZjbiCJDs

Silversun Pickups - "Lazy Eye" - I'd heard some positive buzz about these guys, but I don't really know anything about them........i think i had them confused with the black keys that aaron talked about recently.......if the rest of the cd is as good as this song, i might be picking it up soon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaIT82a7VjY

Fall Out Boy - "This ain't a scene, it's an arms race" - I liked the song with the deer in the video (sugar we're going down).....i really liked the dance, dance song........and i love this one......also they're on a label called fueled by ramen.........other artists on the label include less than jake, Panic! at the Disco (which deserves its own post and will get it soon), and......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvPvcV44rCc

Gym Class Heroes - "Cupids Chokehold" - aaron introduced me to these guys when i asked him for more stuff like atmosphere......the live band rather than samples is interesting and different from normal rap/hip-hop.....video is fun too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypEauGhcJz8

Lily Allen - "Smile" - i'm not a huge fan of this one, but I like it and it has stuck in my head all day......so......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_jjuCfdksQ

Out with the new

Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor
Wow. Do not judge a book by a cover. His name and album name immediately turned me off. But, this is awesome hip-hop under the guise of mainstream radio rap. Check it out.
recommended tracks: Kick Push & Daydreamin'

The Black Keys - Magic Potion
The blues rock from Akron, Ohio does it again. Solid jams all the way.
recommended tracks: Just got to be & Goodbye babylon

Oh No! Oh My!
- Self Titled
I'm not sure how to describe this band, maybe Shins meet Islands. Light and carefree listen.
recommended tracks: Walk in the Park & I have no sister

Wiley
- Treadin' On Thin Ice
Dizzee Rascal take two, except I like this guy a whole lot more.
recommended track: The Game

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
This whole album just rocks! The lead's voice is no longer a shrill whine, but a beacon of rock and roll.

Some of the songs that were part of the impetus for this blog

Bright Eyes - "First Day of My Life" (I'm Wide Awake It's Morning) - Oftentimes my favorite songs become my favorite songs because of a line in the song that just kills me; this song is filled with those killer lines: "Yours is the first face that I saw/think i was blind before I met you" "remember the time you drove all night/just to meet me in the morning" that reminds me of that scene in Elizabethtown, which by the way is an excellent often underrated movie. If you liked Garden State (which I did) i don't see how you could dislike Elizabethtown. Same thematic elements: boy is sad, boy goes home for parental death, boy meets girl, girl puts life into perspective....and isn't that what we all want out of life? Last awesome line in the song: "but i'd rather be working for a paycheck/than waiting to win the lottery"

Bright Eyes - "Old Soul Song (For the New World Order)" (I'm Wide Awake It's Morning) - off the same album....awesome imagery about a protest....i love the "and all the way home held your camera like a bible/just wishing so bad that it held some kind of truth"

Sufjan Stevens - "For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti" (Greetings from Michigan) - i can't get totally behind sufjan....lots of his stuff is kinda boring to me even though i much prefer slow, mopey music....that being said..this song rules....love the banjo.....i read/heard one time that its way harder to play banjo slower than fast.....don't know if its true, but its sad and awesome.......does anybody know who the girl singer is? "i'll do anything for you/i did everything for you"

Ray LaMontagne - This is the guy i've been listening to the most recently.....saw him at ACL.....he was fantastic...... first 3 songs on (Trouble) will hook you: "Trouble" "Shelter" "Hold you in my arms" also check out (Till the Sun Turns Black) his new album that came out late last year......."Empty" is teh best track on there....."Lesson Learned" and "Till the sun turns black" are also incredible

so much more, but i'll quit for now........ps.....i don't think you should feel obligated to write lots of stuff about each song you pick......

Welcome

Welcome to tune swap. The idea is to exchange bands/music/songs that you are currently listening to. You should try to post at least once a month with 10 songs you are currently listening to. It's ok even if they are old songs that you rediscovered recently. This was originally intended for music, but I don't think there's anything wrong with listing books, movies, tv shows, websites that you are partaking in either.

If anybody knows the best way to set up an ftp site or something else where we can upload our monthly playlists etc... let me know please.

Let the good times roll! Woo!
